Dallas | "The Crossroads of Gaston County"
The town of Dallas was incorporated into Gaston County as the seat of the county from 1846-1911. The town was named after the 11th Vice President of America, George Mifflin Dallas. The seat of Gaston County was eventually moved to Gastonia ending a historical era for Dallas. The Town of Dallas was nicknamed the "bedroom community" because of its close proximity to Charlotte. Located just north of Interstate 85, driving a small distance allowed many people to live in Dallas and commute to their job in Charlotte.
